L O V E Y O U R C I T Y YOU’RE INVITED! B-Line Corridor Land Use Study Design Workshop Public Presentation What should new development along the B-line corridor look like? How should it relate to existing neigbourhoods?oHow The City of Hamilton is undertaking a land use planning process along the B-Line Corridor from McMaster to Eastgate Square in conjunction with planning, engineering and design studies for a Light Rail Transit (LRT) system. Citizens and local architects will be working together over the next few weeks to create visions of possible future development along the B-Line corridor. They will be developing six conceptual designs for buildings and public areas at six select locations along the corridor, two in Ward 1. Turkish Dinner Delight! Read On….

Strathcona, Some very interesting events that our friends at Crossfire would like everyone to be aware of… ——————————————————————————————————– First – We have become friends with a group of Turkish people over the last few years. Over the last month or so, they have held a series of cooking classes at Crossfire, and now … well, they are inviting all of us to an authentic Turkish meal. It will happen on Saturday, June 18, at 6 PM. We’re just asking for $5 per person to help cover costs. No program, except to congratulate the student-cooks. RSVPs are not necessary, but would actually be helpful, just to give us an idea of numbers. Second – Crossfire is presenting the Alpha Course at Rolly Rocket’s BBQ, Sunday evenings throughout the summer. We started last Sunday night and had a great time. No cost for the course, but of course – we highly recommend trying some of Rolly’s sweet potato fries or ribs – it’s a great local business, and we are happy to support it! Starts at 6:30 PM, ends at 8 PM. Third – Crossfire has started a Music Arts School. At this point, we are offering individual lessons for electric, acoustic and bass guitars. $15 per half hour. Flyers are attached And if anyone has questions about any of this – give us a call or send an email.  905-525-8894 or or Patti Rev. Patti Miller Crossfire Assembly, Hamilton

Transportation and Healthy Living Fair 16/06

Media Release- Photo opportunity Transportation and Healthy Living Fair June 16th Discover how easy it is to get active with Smart Commute Hamilton. June 7, 2011 – Hamilton: On Thursday, June 16th join Smart Commute Hamilton to celebrate Hamilton commuters getting active! Located in Gore Park, downtown at King and James Streets, the Transportation and Healthy Living Fair brings together individuals and organizations to showcase what is happening to support healthy lifestyles and active, sustainable commutes like walking, cycling and transit. Over 70% of the vehicle trips made in Hamilton are in single occupancy vehicles.  Skyrocketing gas prices and sedentary lifestyles are harming our health and our pocketbooks.  Putting more activity into our daily routine is good for us and can be cheap and easy. The Transportation and Healthy Living Fair takes place during the Hamilton Clean Air Commute Week which kicks off on Sunday June 12 with Open Streets Hamilton and ends June 19.   Last year the provincial Clean Air Commute saved an estimated 500 tonnes of harmful air emissions.  This year’s Fair is happening in conjunction with the Downtown Hamilton BIA’s ‘Gore Park Summer Promenade Events’ which will bring more activity and life to the downtown. The Transportation and Healthy Living Fair, takes place between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm on June 16th.  Featured exhibitors include Hamilton CarShare, Environment Hamilton, GoodLife Fitness, cycling ambassadors, the Hamilton Street Railway and businesses putting electric vehicles on our streets.
