Victoria Park Cigarette Butt Cleanup

Are you tired of looking at discarded cigarette butts when you are out enjoying our beautiful Victoria Park?  Do you find it disgusting when your child or family pet accidently picks them up?  Then why not do your part and join other members of the Strathcona Community Council this weekend in ridding the park of as many of these horrible little pieces of trash as possible.  We will also use this as an opportunity to promote the City’s Smoke-free Parks by-law. Get-together at the Village Green

Celebrate the end of summer in style.  Come out to the lovely green space located at the corner of Oxford and York (next to The Villages, the two large apartment complexes on Queen and Oxford Streets) this Saturday for a great afternoon of family fun.  They’ll be an appearance by the Hamilton Fire Department, a children’s entertainer, snacks and drinks, and some exciting kids games designed to burn off all that excess energy. Aerotropolis Presentation

The executive of the Strathcona Community Council hosted a panel discussion on the City of Hamilton’s aerotropolis development back in April–it’s a proposed 4500 acre urban boundary expansion which is the largest in the city’s history and is being fought by community organizations, neighbourhoods and individual citizens at the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB).
